PDPA Information
PDPA FORMATION:
The Professional Darts Players Association ‘PDPA’ initially formed in the early 1980’s and reconstituted under the auspices of the Sports Industries Federation in 2001 and was based in Leamington Spa. Relocation to Carlisle was in 2012.
The PDPA work in full partnership with the PDC 'Professional Darts Corporation' and the DRA 'Darts Regulation Authority' our governing body. The PDPA also joined the PPF 'Professional Players Federation' in 2014 which is the national organisation for all UK professional player associations and covers UK sports.
PDPA STATUS:
The PDPA changed its status from a player’s union to an association.
PDPA NEW ARTICLES, CODE OF CONDUCT & CONSTITUTION:
In 2023 the PDPA is changing its 'Articles of Association' and 'Constitution' to a 'New Articles' as one document, revised by Mills & Reeve to be adopted by special resolution and passed on (The PDPA AGM 20th November 2023) These 'Articles' were submitted to its membership in October 2023 and will be lodged at Companies House following its adoption at the AGM.
The Code of Conduct will remain as a single document.
PDC EVENTS:
- All TV Events:
World Championship, World Grand Prix, World Matchplay, Premier League, UK Open, World Series Finals, World Cup, Players Championship Finals, Grand Slam of Darts, European Championship, World Masters.
- UK & European Q-School:
For any player by virtue of their entry fee
- Players Championship:
Tour Card Holders with CTOoM Top Ups to get to 128.
- European Tour:
Tour Card Holders (+Day Members via Host Nation, N&B, East Europe qualifiers).
PDC QUALIFIERS:
- World Championship, Grand Slam of Darts, World Series Finals and the World Masters (For PDC Tour Card Holders only) World Masters also has secondary tour and affiliate qualifiers.
- UK Open Amateur Qualifiers. Any non-Tour Card Holder who does not qualify via the CTOoM/DTOoM is eligible to play in the Amateur Qualifiers.
- European Tour, Tour Card, Host Nation, East Europe, Nordic & Baltic.
OTHER EVENTS:
- Development Tour: You are now required to be a PDPA/PDC member. You have to be aged between 16 – 23 on the 3rd of January of that year and are following play in the 5th event of that season subject to the PDPA Membership of £50.
- Challenge Tour: PDPA Members who attended Q-School & didn’t win a Tour Card.
- Women’s Series: Any female player over 16 years old.
- JDC Academy: You do not need to be a member of the PDPA/PDC: This is for any players under the age of 18, they are independent from the PDC & PDPA and are the only darts academies endorsed by the PDPA & the PDC.
