Day 1 - This week is PDPA Mental Health Week, dedicated to normalising conversations about mental health and raising awareness of the valuable services available to PDPA members. Let's come together to support each other and break the stigma!

It’s estimated about 1 in 4 of us will experience a mental health problem at some point each year.

Research shows that adults and young people alike feel their wellbeing is getting worse, with adults also reportedly feeling lonelier. 7.8% of adults in the UK felt lonely 'always or often' in 2024.

In 2023, 6,069 registered deaths were caused by suicide. 75% of those were men.

Day 2 - Mental health problems affect around one in four people in any given year. They range from common problems, such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder..

Remember... it is ok not to be ok...

When you ask, ask again.

It can be so easy, especially for men, to hide their emotions. To put a mask on each day to hide how they’re feeling. So always make sure to check, then check again. It might just be what helps someone open up.

Day 3 - An invisible illness is one that does not exhibit externally visible signs or symptoms. Those with invisible illnesses and disabilities may have symptoms such as pain, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, or mental health disorders. Many of these conditions deeply impact the people suffering, but show no obvious signs to an outside observer.

Day 4 - Did you know all our members are provided with FREE access to the Thrive Mental Wellbeing App - funded by the PDPA.

The app can assess users for anxiety & depression, provides exercises to manage stress & access to 24hr support

PDPA members have fully-funded access to Sporting Chance's mental health treatment services thanks to our partnership with the charity.

If you are a PDPA member and are struggling mentally and emotionally, even if you don't know what's wrong, call their confidential helpline

Day 5 - Christmas isn’t easy for everyone but there is always someone you can talk too.
