This week marks PDPA Mental Health Week — a time to normalise open conversations about mental wellbeing and highlight the important support services available to all PDPA members. Let’s stand together, support one another, and help break the stigma surrounding mental health.
An invisible illness is a condition that doesn’t show outward signs or symptoms. People living with these illnesses or disabilities may experience pain, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, or mental health challenges — all of which can significantly affect their daily lives. Yet to others, these struggles may not be visible at all.
Around one in four people experience mental health challenges each year. These may include common conditions like anxiety or depression, as well as less common ones such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.
And always remember — it’s okay not to be okay.
Did you know that all our members receive FREE access to the Thrive Mental Wellbeing App, fully funded by the PDPA?
The app offers tools to assess anxiety and depression, guided exercises to help manage stress, and 24‑hour support whenever you need it.
PDPA members have fully funded access to Sporting Chance’s mental health support services through our partnership with the charity. If you’re a PDPA member and are finding things difficult emotionally or mentally — even if you’re not sure why — you can reach out to their confidential helpline for support
Christmas can influence our mental health in many different ways — whether you celebrate it yourself or it’s simply happening around you. It’s a time of year that can bring added pressure, expectations, and emotional strain. There is always someone to talk too.
