PartyPoker.net PDC US Open Draw

DUTCH pair Vincent van der Voort and Michael van Gerwen have been drawn with John Kuczynski and Kevin McDine in the first round of the PartyPoker.net PDC US Open.

The £125,000 tournament begins on Friday May 16 at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Connecticut, with the 258-player field being whittled down to the last 16 on day one before the action shifts to the televised stage in the Cabaret Theatre.  HERE FOR THE DRAW

Wade Withdraws From PartyPoker.net PDC US Open

WORLD number three James Wade has withdrawn from the PartyPoker.net PDC US Open through illness.

The 24-year-old from Aldershot was unable to travel to the USA for the tournament, which takes place at the Mohegan Sun Casino, Connecticut from Friday to Sunday.

As a result, Wade's first round opponent, Gerard Zuilkowski, receives a bye in the draw when the tournament kicks off on Friday.

Anastasia Among Final Holsten Qualifiers

ANASTASIA DOBROMYSLOVA and Robert Thornton were among the final 16 Holsten Qualifiers to win a place in the Blue Square UK Open on Sunday.    Dobromyslova, the current BDO/WDF Womens World Champion, came through the North-West Regional Final to book her place in the UK Open televised finals at the Reebok Stadium next month.


London's Stuart Pickles and Plumstead's Nicky Turner also return to Bolton as amateur qualifiers after previously competing in the event

 

In the South-West Regional Final, Sheerness' Geoff Harkup qualified for a fourth successive UK Open.   Harkup is joined in qualifying from Sheerness on the Isle of Sheppey by Paul McDine (pictured here are Geoff, Paul and their sponsor Ged Betts). Alan Casey (Feltham), Michael Smith (Luton), Ryan Francis (Blackheath) and Mel Davies (Hullbridge, Essex) also won places in the UK Open finals.

Former PDPA members Paul Whitworth and Dave Johnston, from Salford and Wigan respectively, won places at the Reebok Stadium in the North-West Regional Final.

Waites Among Holsten Qualifiers Scott Waites - PartyBets.com Grand Slam of Darts

SCOTT WAITES is among the Holsten Qualifiers for the Blue Square UK Open after coming through Saturday's Regional Final.

Waites, currently ranked number five in the WDF/BDO system, competed in the Grand Slam of Darts last year and won the 2007 Dutch Open.

The Huddersfield-based thrower was one of the eight qualifiers from the Frontier Club in Batley at the North-East Regional Final who will now compete at Bolton in the UK Open finals, live on Sky Sports next month.

Former PDPA member Mark Robinson was denied a return to the UK Open in his final game, losing 5-1 to impressive Bradford youngster Joe Cullen.  MORE

Over 300 Chasing Final Bolton Spots

OVER 300 players will be bidding to win the final 32 places in the Blue Square UK Open when the Holsten Pub Qualifier Regional Finals take place this weekend.

Four venues around the UK will stage Regional Finals on Saturday and Sunday, with eight players from each event earning a place at the Reebok Stadium next month.

2008 Thialf Darts Trophy Cancelled

THE PDC have been informed that the 2008 Thialf Darts Trophy has been cancelled.

The tournament has been staged by the DDF in Holland and ranked on the PDC Order of Merit, with Roland Scholten winning last year's title.   However, this year's event - which was due to be held on May 31 - has been cancelled following the withdrawal of a sponsor.

Due to timescales, the tournament will not be replaced in the PDC Calendar on that weekend, however the PDC are investigating the possibility of adding a further Players Championship in Holland later this year.  Any PDPA members who had entered the tournament through will be refunded their entry fee by the PDC.   An alternative event being held on 31st May/1st June is the Sheppey Classic - entry available.   The 2008 Sheppey Classic Entry Form in pdf format HERE - obviously spaces are being filled very quickly and you will need to book asap.

REPORTS from the crucial final league night of the 2008 Whyte & Mackay Premier League Darts from the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle.

Adrian Lewis claimed fourth place in the table and a spot in the semi-finals, with a draw against Wayne Mardle eventually proving enough for the Stoke player.    MORE

PDC To Stage Players Championship in Canada

THE PDC will stage its first Pro Tour event in Canada this year with the Kitchener Open on Sunday August 17.

The £20,000 event will count towards the PDC North American Order of Merit, which gives players the opportunity to qualify for the PartyPoker.com Grand Slam of Darts and the Ladbrokes.com PDC World Darts Championship.   MORE

Clark Wins Open Holland Singles

MATT CLARK won Sunday's non-ranked Open Holland, defeating Peter Manley in the final.

Clark, the runner-up to Andy Hamilton in the recent Antwerp Open Mens Singles, went one better to take Sunday's title with a 3-1 sets victory against Manley.
